Terms of Service
The rules covering our carriage of your goods and your use of this site — including what our tracking information does and does not promise.

Before you publish this. This document describes how the software actually behaves, which makes it an accurate starting point — but it is not legal advice. Have a qualified adviser review it, and replace every [BRACKETED] placeholder with your real company details before going live.
01These terms
These terms govern your use of the Meridian Freight website and tracking service, and the carriage of any shipment you book with us. By booking a shipment or using the tracking service you accept them.
Where you have a signed contract with us, that contract takes precedence over anything here that conflicts with it.
02What we provide
We arrange and perform the carriage of goods by air, road and sea, together with related warehousing and customs services, and we provide a tracking service showing the progress of a consignment.
Transit times shown on this site are targets based on typical performance, not guarantees, unless a guaranteed service has been agreed in writing. Weather, customs inspection, industrial action and other events outside our control affect them.
03About the tracking information
Tracking history is built from scan events recorded as a consignment passes through our network. Those events are accurate as at the time and place they were recorded.
The moving marker on the route map between two scans is an estimate. It is calculated from the last confirmed scan and the scheduled delivery time, and is labelled as such on the page. It is not live GPS, it does not represent the actual position of a vehicle, and it should not be relied on for any decision that a precise location matters to.
Estimated delivery dates are likewise forecasts. We flag a shipment as running late rather than quietly revising its date, but a forecast is not a promise.
04Your obligations
- Describe the goods accurately, including weight, dimensions and value. Mis-declaration is the single most common cause of delay and additional charges.
- Pack goods adequately for the service booked. We can decline a consignment that is unsafe or inadequately packed.
- Provide correct recipient details. We are not liable for a failed delivery caused by an address or contact detail you gave us incorrectly.
- Supply accurate customs documentation on cross-border shipments, and pay any duties and taxes assessed.
- Do not ship prohibited items (see below).
05Prohibited goods
We do not carry, and you must not tender to us:
- Currency, bullion, negotiable instruments or precious stones
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives and their component parts
- Illegal drugs and controlled substances
- Live animals and human remains
- Hazardous materials outside an agreed dangerous goods arrangement
- Counterfeit goods, and anything whose carriage is unlawful at origin, destination or in transit
We may open and inspect any consignment. If we find prohibited goods we may hold, return or dispose of them and report the matter to the authorities, and you remain liable for our costs.
06Liability and claims
Our liability for loss of or damage to goods is limited to the amounts set by the international conventions applicable to the mode of transport — the Montreal Convention for air, the CMR Convention for international road carriage, and the Hague-Visby Rules for sea — or to [DEFAULT LIABILITY CAP] per consignment where no convention applies.
Declared-value cover is included up to $100 per shipment. Additional cover can be arranged at the time of booking, and we recommend it for anything of significant value.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, contracts or business, however arising. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Claims for damage or partial loss must reach us within 14 days of the delivery scan, and claims for non-delivery within 30 days of the scheduled delivery date. File through the contact page.
07Charges and payment
Rates published on the pricing page are indicative. The binding price is the one on your quotation or invoice. Fuel surcharges, customs duties, storage and re-delivery fees may be added where they are incurred.
Where the actual weight or dimensions of a consignment differ from what was declared, we re-rate it and invoice the difference. Invoices are payable within [PAYMENT TERMS], and we may charge statutory interest on late payment.
08Using this website
- Do not attempt to access shipments that are not yours, including by guessing or enumerating tracking numbers. Lookups are rate limited and logged.
- Do not scrape, probe or interfere with the service, or attempt to circumvent its security.
- The embeddable tracking widget may be placed on your own site for shipments you have booked with us. Do not modify it to misrepresent its origin.
- The site, its content and its branding remain our property. You may not reproduce them beyond normal use of the service.
09Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access where these terms are breached, where payment is overdue, or where we are required to by law. You may stop using the service at any time; obligations that have already accrued, including payment for services performed, survive.
10Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and the courts of [JURISDICTION] have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory international convention. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
