The challenge
Halden ships reagents with a limited stability window to research sites across Europe and North America. Every shipment has to be evidenced: who held it, where, and when.
Their previous forwarder provided status updates but not timestamped location events, so the QA team reconstructed chains of custody manually from emails and proof-of-delivery scans. An audit cost several days of a scientist’s time.
What we did
Every handover in the Meridian network writes a scan with a location and a timestamp, and those events are immutable once recorded.
We agreed a scan protocol with their QA team covering the specific handover points their SOPs require, including customs clearance and final-mile collection.
Shipment references carry their internal batch numbers, so a record can be found from either side.
The result
Audit preparation dropped from days to an export. The QA team pulls the scan history for the batches in scope and attaches it directly.
Across the first year on the network there were no chain-of-custody findings.
